Meet our doctors

Dr Maïmouna Koala graduated from the University of Montreal with her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2009 after completing her diploma of college studies at the Collège Jean de Brébeuf.  While completing her degree, Dr. Koala spent some time in Alaska for her internship in Optometry working for the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in the remote area of Bethel. During her clinical rotation in Montreal, she specialized in orthoptics, pediatrics, low vision and contact lenses.

​Dr. Koala joined the Ottawa Eye Clinic in 2009 after completing her degree. She is still involved in Optometry education and has done some work on the review panel for the Canadian Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Koala has participated in different humanitarian missions. With a chapter from VOSH/International she has provided eye examination in Peru, Ecuador and Ghana. Dr. Koala provides primary eye care service in both French and English and has special interest in contact lenses and pediatric eye care.
